Acts 1:8

Often we take for granted the endless resources that we have to hear, read and know God's Word. The very thing that feeds our Spirit is at our fingertips in book form, audio or television. This isn't the case for one living in an orphanage or for one who has little to no resources.

One of the ministry highlights for me came on a Monday evening in late January. A short term missions group had arrived, traveling from Family Christian Stores and Zondervan Publishing. Prior to their arrival, they had sent Bibles for all of the children that we serve. One of their missions while they were here was to personally hand out each bible. That evening, after the children's stomachs were full with a well prepared "Hot Dog" cookout, the group gave each person their very own bible.

Jesus never fed a crowd and left without supplying their true necessity, the word of God. As I look back on that evening, I am continually reminded of the excitement that each child possessed when they received that bible. An excitement we should all hold and possess when we read from our many translations and study guides. I know that the Lord has called my family to Monterrey to supply many things to His people, but I pray that we place the most importance on supplying them with the resource that will carry them into eternity!
